Mary Jane Walker

Mary Jane Walker serves as a senior healthcare and corporate communications consultant, a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, an award-winning strategist and a top media relations specialist. She manages teams that support innovative, strategic healthcare communications for large and small pharmaceutical, biotechnology and other healthcare companies.

Previously, she held senior leadership roles at some of the top public relations, crisis and financial communications consultancies in the world, including Weber Shandwick, Robinson, Lehrer and Montgomery, and H+K, where she led a team that won the PRWeek Healthcare Campaign of the Year Award.

Working with some of the healthcare industry’s most respected leaders, she has led many game-changing corporate, product and public affairs efforts for well-known global healthcare companies, and has brought governments, organizations and heads of corporations to the table for collaboration on multiple occasions. She has designed communications for CEOs and other senior leaders from a range of healthcare corporations including Pfizer, Merck & Co., Abbott Laboratories, Johnson & Johnson, Eli Lilly & Co., Sanofi, Astellas, Celgene, Amgen, Cubist, Aetna and Deloitte.

Earlier, she served as Communications Director for Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), now the U.S. President’s Chief Medical Adviser and COVID-19 response team member. At NIAID, she mastered the art of media relations and the science of infectious diseases, serving as Fauci’s strategic counselor and press secretary during the height of the HIV epidemic, where she led multiple healthcare initiatives and generated thousands of media placements.

Recently, as Managing Partner and Chief Communications & Strategy Officer at a female-owned start-up, she developed transformative social media and marketing campaigns for leading corporations. M.J. holds an M.S. in Communications from American University and serves as a student mentor. She also provides counsel to Tech Up for Women, a collaborative hub for the advancement of women through technology.
